FUN AND FLORAL FILLED SPRING WEDDING
The day Becca and Seth officially said, “I do!”
This floral filled spring wedding at Hawthorne House was filled with bright colors and a whooooooole lot of smiles. After being engaged for 13 months and 13 days, their vision of a unique wedding and fun day truly came to life.
The proposal:
“It was Friday the 13th and I was having a bad day. I was in the middle of a bathroom remodel and really frustrated with the grout color (I love it now, btw). I was at home waiting for Seth to get off work to pick me up to go to his parent’s for Friday night dinner which occasionally happens so nothing out of the ordinary. As I was frustrated I was lying on the couch texting some girl friends some pictures of dogs that I wanted to get. They had ALMOST convinced me to get the dog and Venmo Seth for the dog and that is when Seth called. He told me he had gotten something for the yard and I needed to come out back to see. That is when he was walking around the side of the house followed by a ten pound red-haired puppy that is now our Gracie girl. Not sure who the dog was still at this point I was trying to get the collar to see when Seth, thinking I had read her collar, got down on one knee. (Her collar said Will you marry me) Afterwards we still went to his parent’s where all our families were to celebrate with us!”
THE DOG YOU GUYS. HE GOT HER A DOG. AND SHE WAS JUST ABOUT TO BUY A DOG. Seth, mind reading is a pretty great trait to have as a husband :)
One thing I’m glad we did:
“The best thing we did for peace of mind was using the Hawthorne House where we had an indoor/outdoor ceremony spot (and no - I am not just saying this on here). We wanted an outdoor wedding all along but when the week of our wedding came there was rain in the forecast. While it did not end up raining it was very muggy and would have been too hot for us to stand outside in the sun BUT because of the backup plan for the Chapel we did not even get upset or skip a beat; we moved it inside and the day ended up being perfect!”
I pinky promise this answer was not prompted! But the chapel is a DANG great backup plan.
One thing I would change:
“Looking back now I wish we had a little longer of a cocktail hour to enjoy that time between more. I was so worried about timing and people not getting bored I forgot about what was important to us and allowing time for us to eat, take pictures and BREATH! “
One piece of advice I’d give to an engaged couple is:
“Make the day special for you. Do not worry about pleasing others because at the end of the day it is your day and you want to remember it as the happiest day of your life and not have any regrets. If you stay true to yourself you cannot go wrong!”
When I asked Becca and Seth to describe their wedding day in one word they said “special”. Well, I think you hit the nail on the head you two because it was a night your guests are SURE to remember. The Hawthorne House team won’t forget your wedding, either, because those life size cutouts are literally the greatest photo booth props we’ve ever seen!
