WHY HAVING A FRIDAY WEDDING IS THE BOMB.COM
Hey-yo, Friday weddings are becoming the new bomb.com!
I know there are some doubters out there. What about guest experience?! I don’t want to ask my wedding party to take off a day of work! It’s just not what I was originally thinking so, now what?
Okay, let’s get real for a minute. Wednesday weddings are on the uphill trend. That’s right, Wednesdays!!
Let’s de-bunk the Friday Myths.
I don’t want my wedding party to have to take Thursday off.
If your wedding party is in town, they don’t need to take Thursday off work because you can schedule your rehearsal for after work hours that evening. At Hawthorne House, we have a rehearsal time slot of 6-7pm included when choosing to get married onsite, so, boom, done!
If your wedding party isn’t in town, simply plan the rehearsal for as late as you can allowing for your wedding party to work a half day Thursday. I don’t know about you, but when I’m asked to be a bridesmaid I know the commitment it takes and even for Saturday events, I have always taken Thursday off anyway. It’s fun to be a part of the nail salon and hotel welcome bag stuffing events anyway! As a bonus- flights are cheaper on Thursdays compared to Fridays so that’s a huge win 😊
Is anyone even going to come if it’s on a Friday?!
Are you telling me you wouldn’t want to end your work week with an open bar and a killer DJ???? Come on, peeps! Your friends and family have two whole days to recover from the shindig you’re going to throw! Often, our Friday ceremonies will start at 6:00pm (as opposed to the 5:00pm ceremony start time), with cocktail hour being from 6:30-7:15pm, dinner served at 7:30pm and the party keeps on goin’ until 11:30pm!
It’s not what I was originally thinking, so now what?
Wedding planning doesn’t always go how you originally thought, but that doesn’t have to be a negative! Fridays are cheaper at most venues and sometimes you have more flexible pricing with other wedding vendors as well! The cost savings at Hawthorne House from a Saturday to a Friday is enough to cover most if not all of your beauty, DJ or floral budget! It’s okay to be passionate about a particular season- May, June and October are the peak months in Kansas City- just be open to the days of the week in case all of the Saturdays are gone. There are only four or five Saturdays a month and every year couples start booking their venue earlier and earlier, so being flexible will allow you to say, “I do” at your dream venue (sometimes for a fraction of the cost)!
