If you’ve read my bio (Elizabeth) or follow Hawthorne House on social media you know that before purchasing Hawthorne House I was a wedding coordinator. After learning this at a tour, the next question is almost always “Great! So you’ll coordinate my day?” which is absolutely a valid question. Transparency is a major piece of our mission so I am more than happy to address the fact that, no, I/our team will not be coordinators on the wedding day.
Because I was a coordinator, I know exactly what the job entails. A great coordinator’s priority is the couple on a wedding day. Their job is to bring the couple’s vision to life when decorating in the morning. To be sure the vendors are providing the services promised to the couple. To send the couple down the aisle and ensure the timeline is moving along based on the approved timeline from the couple.
But a Hawthorne House Team Lead? If it’s time to send a couple down the aisle and a toilet overflows, their priority is going to be the toilet. It would be extremely difficult to focus on making sure the timeline is on schedule while also getting the bar set up and preparing the team members who assist throughout the evening upon arrival. Managing an 11 acre property and a bar takes focus and dedication!

How did Hawthorne House + Pretty & Planned come up with the exclusive package?
In 2020, 75% of Hawthorne House couples had a wedding planner of some sort. Some of these planners were family or friends, but a majority were hired professionals. In talking with couples, we learned that those who didn’t hire a coordinator or who used friends were interested in getting help but not to the scale they were seeing offered by professionals. In other words, the packages they saw were too much. So, we created the perfect starting package for a Hawthorne House specific wedding. When you have a ceremony + reception onsite you get 12 hours of access. When you book the Hawthorne House Exclusive Package through Pretty & Planned, you get 12 hours of service! This means they can direct your vendors, decorate, send you down the aisle, light candles, keep the timeline flowing, load cars with your décor and more. It is crucial that a planner attends the final walk through with Hawthorne House so that the planner can help direct layout decisions and ask questions that may not be on the couple’s mind. It makes for a flawless day if the planner runs the rehearsal before the wedding day, therefore this is included in the Hawthorne House Exclusive Package. This package includes everything that a Hawthorne House couple needs to feel supported throughout the planning process and their wedding day, but still drive the main vendor decisions. Services offered were top of mind, but budget was certainly a driving factor in creating this exclusive package. Pretty & Planned has had an office in Historic Downtown Parkville since 2016. Stephanie felt the need to offer couples something she felt was missing in the planner world. Planning often leads couples to wonder "what's my planner actually offering me?" since it's a service based business and not a tangible item like a wedding cake or florals. When couples come in for consolations the Pretty & Planned team always SHOW couples what they are getting when choosing to use us as their planner. Everything from how Pretty & Planned makes timelines, to how floorplans are organized. They even create a packing list and end of night instructions making the whole day seamless. Couples want to be a part of the experience and we believe by offering an in-studio experience that is accomplished!
What does the Pretty & Planned experience look like?
The first step is to reach out via email (hello@prettyandplanned.com) or phone (816-506-6105)! Then, we’ll schedule an in-person or video consultation with our team. The goal of this meeting is for the Pretty & Planned team to get to know you as a couple and what your planning needs are. Every couple and every wedding is different! Bring any and all questions as we want this to be very beneficial for you, your fiancé and your parents (if you’d like to bring them). We’ll talk through the package options and determine what is the best fit for your needs! From there, each package offers different levels of service but all Pretty & Planned couples receive a relationship driven experience with extensive communication.

We also have additional packages and services if you’d like a bit more support throughout the planning process. One step up from the Hawthorne House Exclusive Package would be the Event Management Package. If you’d like a bit more support but aren’t sure a full planner is for you than Partial is a great fit!
